Since graduating from the University of Brighton in 2004, Ruth Cross has been developing the art of hand-knitting to create organic yet contemporary pieces.

Now based in a studio on the edge of the New Forest, her work develops through the invention of stitches inspired by a combination of the landscape around her and contemporary events. These stitches work together to form beautiful fabrics, knitted into a variety of items from garments and accessories to home-ware, furniture, lighting and bespoke projects.

Ruth Cross quote

Ruth Cross mostly uses fine Scottish lambs wool, hand-knitted in the UK. She aims to support British manufacturers and makers, whilst working in conjunction with local knitters, ceramicists and furniture makers. Ruth Cross pieces are very high quality and are lovingly made, chosen and treasured.
