AMY RUPPEL was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, where she was left mostly to her own imagination, always dragging a stack of paper and a slew of pencils and crayons to her fort in the woods.
Color and shape have always intrigued her, and to this day, is still searching for that perfect oval, that perfect orange-yellow and grassy green.
Amy currently lives in beautiful green Portland, Oregon, where she works at home as a full-time artist, illustrator and surface designer.
She has worked with the good folks at Adidas, Converse, Nike, Tamara Henriques, The Mercy Corps, Oilily, be6 designs, Eleventwentyfive, Klutz, Vigo Cards, The Ace Hotel and many others.

"Art helps me realize the existence of small things. I find it a pleasure to fill in the lines where nothing had existed before. These works represent snapped moments in time, elements captured and taken from one simple slice of a photograph, to create a field of pure and lucid color.
The drawn shapes are both contained and not contained. They are what I feel might exist in this contented place. I am forever exploring new ways to bring the digital realm into the hands-on world, and am constantly reworking encaustic methods into fresh contemporary forms that will bring a smile to everyone's face."
